BLG Statement
A statement from David Di Paolo, National Managing Partner & CEO
We recently identified limited unauthorised access to a portion of our Microsoft cloud environment in what we now know is a wider campaign of activity targeting Canadian law firms.
Our investigation has confirmed that certain files, including files related to clients, were accessed by an unauthorised third party.
Our internal controls contained the incident shortly after it occurred. We engaged Mandiant, an independent and highly respected cybersecurity firm to investigate the incident, determine its scope and support remediation.
Our investigation is ongoing, with our immediate focus on protecting the interests of our clients. We have and continue to reach out directly to affected clients to keep them informed and are taking every step necessary to protect their information.
We have notified relevant professional regulatory bodies and law enforcement and are cooperating with them.
We are taking this matter seriously. Protecting client confidentiality remains fundamental to who we are as a firm. Our leadership is directly overseeing every aspect of this response, and our entire team is dedicated to protecting our clients' interests and supporting them through this process.
Clients with questions regarding this update are encouraged to reach out directly to their BLG relationship partner.
