BLG has a long history of using technology to deliver exceptional legal services. With the recent emergence of technologies like generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), we remain committed to leveraging these technologies to improve efficiency and provide further value to our clients.
Our technology platform includes applications and tools (such as productivity platforms, document management systems, internal search capabilities, document discovery, and drafting tools and research applications) that leverage artificial intelligence and GenAI.
Before we use these technologies, BLG takes a careful and purposeful approach to ensure we understand their benefits, impacts, risks, and limitations.
We have a governance framework in place to ensure these new technologies are implemented and used in a responsible manner:
- We use industry-leading productivity applications and tools to increase our internal efficiency.
- We use various purpose-built tools to support our delivery of exceptional legal services.
- Before we use a technology, it is rigorously tested to ensure its efficacy and safety.
- Technologies undergo appropriate IT security, risk, and privacy assessments before they are approved for use.
- We will only use technologies if we can protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your confidential information and personal information.
- We complete training on new technologies before they are used.
As these technologies evolve, and as regulatory and professional requirements develop, we actively assess our governance framework to ensure that it continues to support our responsible use of technology such as GenAI.
If you would like to learn more about our approach to the responsible use of GenAI or have any general questions about how we use these technologies, please contact Hélène Deschamps-Marquis (HDeschampsMarquis@blg.com). We value collaborative conversations and welcome ongoing dialogue with our clients.
