Mekhala advises clients on intellectual property matters. She maintains a broad practice covering corporate, commercial and transactional intellectual property (copyright and trademark) and related technology law.

Mekhala has experience in:

  • trademark prosecution, opposition and enforcement matters
  • drafting IP and technology-related contracts
  • IP licensing
  • IP due diligence matters
  • Closing and post-closing IP matters

Additionally, she is interested in:

  • brand management, protection and enforcement
  • licensing and commercialization of IP
  • developing IP trends in emerging economies
  • the protection of traditional knowledge and intangible cultural heritage through intellectual property law
  • copyright law in entertainment, media and cultural contexts

Mekhala is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.

Mekhala also has experience drafting commercial agreements from an IP perspective.
Prior to attending law school, Mekhala worked as a researcher and writer for a Toronto-based non-profit organization that promoted awareness among youth through the use of internet and communications technologies (ICTs).
