Jessica Wuergler

Jessica is a management-side labour, employment, and human rights lawyer, who represents and advises public and private sector employers.

She is a skilled advocate who represents employers in labour arbitrations, interest arbitrations, human rights proceedings, collective bargaining negotiations and employment litigation, regularly appearing before labour arbitrators, labour boards, human rights tribunals, and the courts, including appellate courts.

Jessica’s practice primarily focuses on employers in the education, transportation, information technology, and energy sectors. She is a core team member of BLG’s National School Boards Practice and is extensively involved in the central bargaining process under the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act, including most recently in the voluntary binding interest arbitration hearings regarding teacher and education worker central terms for the 2022-2026 collective agreements.

Jessica delivers proactive, practical, innovative, and timely solutions to her clients regarding a wide range employment, human rights (including pay equity) and labour relations matters. Jessica is uniquely positioned to provide such advice, given her many years of experience working as a trusted advisor to employers, not only as a labour and employment lawyer but, prior to that, as a human resources professional.

In addition to obtaining her J.D. from the University of Western Ontario, Jessica earned a Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources (“MIRHR”) degree from the University of Toronto, and an Honours Psychology degree with a specialization in Human Resources Management from the University of Waterloo.
