Aidan maintains a general litigation practice with a focus on commercial and energy disputes, injunctions, class actions, administrative law, defence procurement, and constitutional law.

He has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also run trials before the British Columbia Provincial Court and Manitoba Court of King’s Bench.

Aidan was on the Dean’s List throughout law school and graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta in 2021. He received various awards during law school, including the Mandy MacLeod Prize for Excellence in Mooting, the Joseph Paul Bromlik Scholarship for Excellence in Advocacy, the Rhonda Zacharias Memorial Award, and the Criminal Trial Lawyers Award in Evidence.

Experience

  • Reference re Impact Assessment Act, 2023 SCC 23 – represented an intervenor in a reference regarding the constitutionality of the Federal Impact Assessment Act.
  • Christie v Canada (Attorney General), 2024 FC 1722 – successful in a judicial review application brought by a retired member of the RCMP regarding a benefits decision issued by the Veterans Review and Appeal Board.
  • Pelletier v Canada (Attorney General), 2024 FC 1669 – successful in a judicial review application brought by a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces regarding a benefits decision issued by the Veterans Review and Appeal Board.
