A member of BLG's Specialized Business Law Group, Claire specializes in environmental, energy, natural resources, and project development matters. She assists a diverse range of clients with the commercial and environmental aspects of their projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and helping secure necessary authorizations.

Claire also advises developers, purchasers, lenders and investors on real estate, commercial and financial transactions, guiding them through strategic environmental, mining, industrial and wildlife issues, including on Indigenous lands. Her expertise is part of the growing development of environmental services offered by BLG, as requests for assistance remain on the rise.

Claire's areas of expertise include:

  • Reconciling engineering and legal aspects in technical matters
  • Applying regulatory standards and preparing for investigations and inspections
  • Challenging environmental penalties
  • Negotiating project conditions with public authorities

Prior to joining the firm, Claire worked as an associate at a public utility corporation specializing in electricity production and transmission.

Experience

  • Advised and represented Township MacNider Wind Farm in submissions and public hearing for agricultural land reserve issues and approvals at the Commission de protection du territoire agricole du Québec, securing authorization for alienation of superficiary rights, maple grove clearing and non-agricultural use.
  • Advised industrial heater manufacturer Wattco Inc. and its shareholders on its sale to an affiliate of U.K. engineering company Smiths Group plc.
