Michael specializes in drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to life sciences and clean technology, including:

Michael’s knowledge extends to patentability, validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate issues. He also counsels clients on international patent strategies and portfolio management.

Additionally, Michael has experience helping start-up companies grow. He co-founded StartUp & Grow™, a BLG initiative that offers practical, efficient legal solutions tailored to meet the needs of entrepreneurs, start-ups, early-stage and growth-stage companies.
Before joining BLG as an articling student, Michael conducted doctoral research in biochemistry at Simon Fraser University. While completing his research, Michael also attended law school at the University of Alberta. Michael was called to the bar in 2013 and passed the Canadian Patent Agent exams in 2015.
