Paige has a broad complex disputes practice that includes international and domestic arbitration, commercial litigation and administrative law matters, among other areas.

Paige has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia in cases involving a range of contractual and shareholder disputes and arbitration-related litigation. She has also dealt with matters and appeared before various regulatory bodies and tribunals, including the British Columbia Securities Commission and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

As arbitration counsel, Paige has appeared in significant ad hoc and administered arbitrations in North America, Asia and Europe under various institutional sets of rules, including the UNCITRAL, ICC, SCC, HKICAC, ICDR and VanIAC Rules, among others.

Paige is active in the legal community, including through current roles with the Young Canadian Arbitration Practitioners (member of the executive and chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee), the LCIA’s Young International Arbitration Group (Regional Representative for North America), the Advocates’ Society (Practice Group Leader) and the Canadian Bar Association’s Career Starters Mentorship Program (Mentor).

After graduating from law school, Paige clerked for six justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Recent representative cases on which Paige has appeared include the following:

  • Arbitration and Arbitration-Related Litigation
    • Counsel to an Icelandic power producer in disputes relating to the interpretation of a long-term power purchase agreement (SCC).
    • Counsel to a UAE-based financial services company in a dispute relating to a note purchase agreement (ICDR).
    • Creative Energy Vancouver Platforms Inc. v. Concord Pacific Developments Ltd. – counsel to the successful appellant on an application granting leave to appeal from an arbitral award in a dispute relating to the assignment of density in respect of a significant office tower project.
    • Counsel to a commercial sponsor in a dispute with a professional sports team (ad hoc).
    • Counsel to a Canadian technology company in a dispute with an Asian mobile phone supplier in one of Hong Kong’s first funded international arbitrations (HKICAC).
    • Counsel to a Provincial health authority in a dispute relating to the supply of personal protective equipment in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic (VanIAC).
    • Clemina Hydro Power Limited Partnership v. British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority – counsel to the successful respondent in a petition seeking leave to appeal an arbitral award.
    • Appleton & Associates v. Branch MacMaster LLP – counsel to the successful appellant in a challenge to an arbitrator's costs award, in a case clarifying the court's role where arbitral error has been established.
    • Counsel in multiple claims arising from declarations of force majeure arising from the COVID-19 pandemic in the hydroelectric energy sector (VanIAC).
    • Counsel to an energy purchaser in a dispute relating to the construction of a run-of-river hydroelectric project (VanIAC).
    • Counsel to a Mexican beverage supply franchisee in a dispute with a Canadian franchisor (UNCITRAL).
    • Counsel to a provincial crown corporation in a dispute with a sports team relating to sponsorship rights (BCICAC).
  • Litigation
    • Morabito v. British Columbia (Securities Commission) – counsel to the appellant in two appeals. The first appeal established the burden of proof on a party seeking to set aside an investigation order under the Securities Act. The second appeal established that where there are credible allegations of investigative misconduct, the evidentiary burden shifts to the Executive Director to respond in a meaningful way.
    • Re Global Crossing Airlines – counsel for one of the respondents in a proceeding before the British Columbia Securities Commission.
    • Yen v. Ghahramani – counsel to the Plaintiffs in a corporate oppression proceeding.
